Because of the specific climatic conditions and stratification relief of the pedestrian substrate, the area of the Srebrenica municipality has extremely lush and varied vegetation. The pedological cover of this area consists of high and low vegetation which is characterized by its healing properties and endemic characteristics. In the lower areas, the processing surfaces are covered with different types of cereals, vegetables, tobacco plantations and plantations of raspberry and fruit. Moving towards to a higher altitude landscaping areas, processing surfaces pass through pastures and high vegetation: oak and beech forests with smaller grazing shrubs, and the highest peaks are covered with coniferous forests of pine, fir and spruce with rare trees of Pančić’s spruce (tertiary relict).
Pančić’s spruce is distinguished by its similar coniferous trees by the extremely spiky appearance of its crown, its height is up to 50m, which is why it is called the coniferous beauty. It is used for making musical instruments.
As a rare plant variety, there is also yew and white flower with a pernicious smell. On the ground floor,of the forest covering, grows a forest berries (wild strawberries and blueberries) mushroom in different kinds and colors. Spacious sumptuous meadows and pastures are covered with dense grass and medicinal herbs for: St. john’s wort (Hypericum perforatum), Thyme (Thymus vulgaris), Teucrium montanum, Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) , and others which tourists harvest for tea.
The dense and inexhaustible forests of the Zeleni Jadar and Sušica mountain, are habitats for a variety of wildlife, among which are particularly significant species: Brown bears, roe deer and wild boars, whose protection is care of hunting society “Javor” and forest estate “Drina” from Srebrenica. There is a rich bird world in this area. On the high cliffs of the canyon of Drine and the black stream, rare species of eagles nest and survive.
